How to Convert JPG Photos to PDF

Turn photos, screenshots and scanned images into one PDF with the right page size, orientation and margins, plus tips for sharper results from phone photos.

When you need a PDF instead of a photo

Many forms, portals and offices accept documents only as PDF. A PDF also keeps several pages together in the right order, which a set of loose photos does not. Receipts for an expense claim, pages of a signed contract, ID documents and homework assignments are all easier to send as one PDF.

How to convert JPG to PDF

Images to PDF runs in your browser, so photos stay on your device while the PDF is created.

  1. Open Images to PDF and select one or more JPG or PNG images.
  2. Drag the images into the order they should appear in the PDF.
  3. Choose a page size: Fit, A4 or US Letter.
  4. Pick portrait or landscape orientation, and a margin if you plan to print.
  5. Leave Merge all images in one PDF file enabled to get a single document.
  6. Create the PDF and download it.

Choosing the right page size

The page size affects how the PDF looks and prints.

  • Fit: each page matches its image exactly. Best for screenshots, artwork and photos viewed on screen.
  • A4: the standard paper size in most of the world. Best when the PDF will be printed or submitted to an office outside North America.
  • US Letter: the standard paper size in the United States and Canada.
  • Portrait suits documents and most phone photos; landscape suits wide photos, slides and spreadsheets.

One PDF or one PDF per image

By default, all images are combined into a single PDF, one image per page. Turn off the merge option when you need a separate PDF for each image, for example when a portal wants each receipt uploaded individually.

Get better results from phone photos

The PDF can only be as clear as the photos you start with. A few habits make a big difference.

  • Photograph documents flat, in even light, without your shadow across the page.
  • Crop to the edges of the paper and straighten the image in your photo editor first.
  • Hold the phone parallel to the page to avoid a trapezoid-shaped document.
  • Use your phone's built-in document scanner, which crops and flattens pages automatically, when you have one.

Mixing images with existing PDFs

If you need to add photos to a PDF you already have, use Merge PDF instead. It accepts PDF, JPG, PNG and WebP files together and combines them in the order you choose. To go the other way and turn PDF pages into images, use PDF to JPEG.

Photo-based PDFs can be large. If the result is too big to email or upload, run it through Compress PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert multiple JPGs into one PDF?

Yes. Select all the images, arrange them in order and keep the merge option on to create one PDF with one image per page.

Does converting JPG to PDF reduce quality?

No. The images are placed into the PDF as they are. To make the file smaller, compress the PDF afterwards.

Can I convert PNG screenshots to PDF?

Yes. Images to PDF accepts both JPG and PNG. Use the Fit page size so each screenshot keeps its exact dimensions.
